Khác với UI Designer (thiết kế giao diện trong sản phẩm số) — Digital Designer focus asset marketing chạy bên ngoài: ads, social, banner, email, landing page promo. Họ là cầu nối giữa graphic design truyền thống và digital channel.
Digital Designer là người thiết kế visual cho mọi kênh digital marketing. Output: banner ads (Google Display, Facebook Ads, TikTok), social media post (feed, story, reel), email template (newsletter, transactional), landing page promo, website banner, display ad mọi format (300x250, 728x90, 1080x1080…). Họ make brand visual scale qua mọi touchpoint digital.
Khác với UI Designer / Product Designer (thiết kế giao diện trong sản phẩm: app, web product) — Digital Designer focus marketing asset. Khác với Graphic Designer print (focus print: poster, brochure, packaging) — Digital focus screen, multiple aspect ratio, animated. Khác với Motion Designer (focus animation chuyên sâu) — Digital Designer làm cả static lẫn simple motion. Có sub-specialty: Social Media Designer, Ads Designer, Email Designer, Landing Page Designer.
Digital Designer — visual cho mọi kênh marketing digital
Digital Designer ngồi trong Marketing team, Brand team, hoặc Creative agency. Báo cáo cho Art Director, Creative Director, Brand Manager. Phối hợp với: Marketing Manager (campaign yêu cầu), Copywriter (text content), Performance Marketer (ads optimization), Motion Designer (video version), Photographer (asset photo). Tham gia mọi campaign cycle: campaign yêu cầu → concept → design → multiple variant → launch → lần lặp. Cycle 1 ngày (urgent post) đến 4 tuần (campaign lớn).
Yêu cầu từ marketing — context: campaign goal, target audience, channel (FB ads, Google, email), format spec, deadline, copy. Digital Designer brainstorm concept visual: angle nào catch attention, layout structure, color direction, imagery type. Pitch 2–3 direction cho marketing approve trước khi design full.

Build master design cho concept đã approve. Sau đó adapt ra mọi size cần — Google Display có ~15 size standard, Facebook có ~10 placement (feed, story, reel, carousel, marketplace), TikTok riêng. Mỗi size phải re-compose: hierarchy giữ, key visual giữ, scale phù hợp. Công cụ: Figma, Photoshop, Illustrator.

Static design không còn đủ. Modern digital design require basic motion: animated banner (GIF, HTML5), social reel template, email with subtle animation. Công cụ: After Effects (full animation), Figma Smart Animate, Adobe Express, Canva animated. Animation phải subtle, on-brand, không distract.

Digital design có advantage lớn: measurable. Performance team report CTR, conversion, engagement. Digital Designer iterate: test variant (color CTA, layout, headline), kill loser, scale winner. A/B test mindset cốt lõi. Mỗi campaign produce 5–20 variant, ship continuously.

Foundation graphic design — typography, color, hierarchy, composition, contrast. Digital design có ít space cho thông tin (banner 300x250 nhỏ xíu) — phải master hierarchy distill: 1 message chính, 1 CTA, 1 visual hook. Practice qua daily design challenge (Daily UI, 100 days of design).

Figma (UI, layout, prototype), Photoshop (raster, retouch), Illustrator (vector, icon), After Effects (animation), Premiere (video edit basic), Canva (rapid social). Master Figma + Photoshop + 1 motion tool.
Mỗi platform có spec riêng: Facebook ads size, Instagram safe zone, TikTok aspect ratio, email max width 600px, ad max file size. Mỗi platform có behavior người dùng khác (FB scroll fast, email click, TikTok pause). Design phải fit context.
Brand có brand book — Digital Designer phải áp dụng nhất quán: color, typography, logo usage, photography style. Đồng thời flex theo channel context. Build brand sense qua đọc brand book của top brand (Coca-Cola, Apple, Nike), practice apply.
Marketing team yêu cầu often unclear ("design banner sale 9.9 đẹp đẹp"). Designer phải ask right question: goal, audience, channel, success metric. Present design với reasoning, defend choice, accept góp ý constructively.
VN: ĐH Mỹ thuật Công nghiệp Đồ hoạ, ĐH FPT Multimedia, Arena Multimedia, Greenwich, RMIT Communication Design. Online: Coursera Graphic Design Specialization (CalArts), Domestika, Skillshare. Foundation: design principle, typography, color, layout, software basic.
Self-study free: Figma Academy free, Phlearn (Photoshop), School of Motion (AE), Adobe tutorial. Build daily: replicate ads/design lớn để học. Goal: setup template, export batch, master shortcut → trở thành power user.
Portfolio cần: 10–20 piece với mix: banner ads (multiple size), social campaign (feed + story), email template, landing page. Self-initiate project: redesign campaign của brand bạn thích, social post cho personal project. Upload Behance, Dribbble.
Lộ trình khởi đầu: (1) Creative agency (Ogilvy, Dentsu, Wunderman, local agency) — variety project, fast learning; (2) In-house marketing team (Shopee, VNG, Tiki, Vingroup) — deep on 1 brand; (3) Freelance small client. Agency là path học fastest cho 2–3 năm đầu.
Sau 2–3 năm generalist, specialize: Social Media Designer (focus engagement asset), Performance Ads Designer (focus conversion optimization, A/B test), Email Designer (HTML email, CRM tool), Landing Page Designer (combine UX + visual cho conversion).
