Interior Designer biến không gian rỗng (shell architectural) thành không gian sống có ý nghĩa — qua layout, vật liệu, ánh sáng, màu sắc, nội thất. Là một trong những ngành thiết kế phổ biến nhất với demand cao tại Việt Nam — nơi đô thị hóa + thu nhập trung lưu tăng → bùng nổ nhu cầu interior cho nhà ở, văn phòng, F&B, retail.
01Interior Designer là ai?
Interior Designer (Nhà thiết kế nội thất) là chuyên gia thiết kế không gian sống và làm việc bên trong các công trình. Phân loại theo loại không gian: (1) Residential Interior Designer — nhà ở riêng, căn hộ chung cư, villa; (2) Commercial Interior Designer — văn phòng, co-working space, showroom; (3) Hospitality Interior Designer — khách sạn, resort, restaurant, cafe, bar; (4) Retail Interior Designer — cửa hàng, mall, popup store; (5) Healthcare Interior Designer — bệnh viện, phòng khám; (6) Education Interior Designer — trường học, university. Specialization theo style: minimalist, industrial, scandinavian, japandi, indochine, mid-century.
Khác với Interior Decorator (chỉ trang trí cosmetic — furniture, accessory, không thay đổi structure) — Interior Designer can move wall, redesign space, modify lighting + electrical. Khác với Architect (toàn bộ tòa nhà — exterior + structure + interior) — Interior Designer tập trung interior. Khác với FF&E Designer (chỉ furniture, fixture, equipment) — Interior Designer toàn bộ không gian. Vị trí trong quy trình sản xuất
Interior Designer thường join project sau khi architecture shell done (hoặc đồng thời ở dự án mới). Quy trình: yêu cầu client → concept design (3-6 tuần) → design development (4-8 tuần) → construction documents (4-6 tuần) → tendering + contractor selection → construction supervision (3-12 tháng) → FF&E install → handover. Báo cáo Design Director / Principal / Project Director. Phối hợp với Architect (structural change), FF&E Designer, Lighting Designer, MEP Engineer, Procurement, Contractor. Project size: căn hộ chung cư (3-6 tháng), villa (6-12 tháng), boutique hotel (12-24 tháng), large hotel (18-36 tháng).
02Công việc của một Interior Designer
1. Yêu cầu + concept design
Gặp client → hiểu nhu cầu, lifestyle, budget, taste. Survey space + measure. Develop concept: design narrative, mood board, style direction, palette, material library. Present 2-3 option. Iterate với client. Concept là foundation — sai concept = sai mọi thứ.

2. Design development — layout, material, lighting
Develop concept thành detail. Floor plan — layout final, partition, door, window. Material schedule — flooring, wall finish, ceiling, paint color, tile. Lighting plan — fixture type, layer (ambient, task, accent), control. Electrical + plumbing coordinate với MEP engineer. 3D visualization — render qua 3ds Max + V-Ray, Lumion, Enscape — client phê duyệt.

3. Construction documents + tender
Drawing set chi tiết cho thi công: furniture plan, ceiling plan, elevation, section, detail drawing (custom millwork, joinery), finish schedule, specifications. Standard cần handover cho contractor: AutoCAD + Revit format. Manage tender — review contractor bid, evaluate, select. Negotiate. Coordinate với client procurement.

4. Site supervision + FF&E install + handover
Visit site weekly during construction. Verify build match design — material correct, dimension accurate, finish quality. Catch problem early — discrepancy giữa drawing và actual condition.
