Một bộ phim có thể có 200 cộng sự — biên kịch, diễn viên, quay phim, dựng phim, dựng cảnh, âm thanh, VFX. Nhưng kết phim hiện lên credit, người được ghi đầu tiên là "A Film by [tên đạo diễn]". Vì Đạo diễn là tác giả của phim — quyết định cuối cùng về mọi yếu tố sáng tạo.
Khác với Producer (tập trung kinh doanh, ngân sách, lịch trình) — Đạo diễn tập trung tầm nhìn sáng tạo. Họ là người tưởng tượng phim trong đầu trước khi nó tồn tại, rồi dẫn dắt 200 người biến giấc mơ đó thành hiện thực.
01Đạo diễn phim là ai?
Đạo diễn phim là người dẫn dắt tầm nhìn sáng tạo của một bộ phim. Họ quyết định: cách kể câu chuyện (giọng, nhịp, cấu trúc), diễn xuất (chọn diễn viên, chỉ đạo diễn), hình ảnh (quay phim, màu sắc, thiết kế bối cảnh), âm thanh (nhạc phim, thiết kế âm thanh), dựng phim (nhịp dựng, chuyển cảnh). Họ là người nói tiếng cuối cùng với mọi quyết định sáng tạo. Trong các hãng phim tốt nhất, Director có "final cut" — quyền quyết định bản cuối của phim.
Khác với Producer (lo phần kinh doanh: gọi vốn, lên lịch, marketing) — Director lo phần sáng tạo. Khác với Screenwriter (viết kịch bản) — Director diễn giải kịch bản và triển khai lên màn ảnh. Khác với Cinematographer (DP) (lo máy quay và ánh sáng) — Director quản tất cả. Khác với Editor (dựng bản cuối) — Director đưa tầm nhìn cho Editor. Director ở đỉnh chuỗi sáng tạo. Được Producer hoặc Studio thuê. 02Công việc của một Đạo diễn phim
1. Development — vision, script, pitch
Bắt đầu với ý tưởng (của riêng mình hoặc kịch bản được mời). Làm việc với Screenwriter hoàn thiện kịch bản qua nhiều bản nháp (10–30 draft là bình thường). Phát triển tầm nhìn đạo diễn: tham chiếu giọng điệu (phim nào tương tự), tham chiếu hình ảnh, danh sách diễn viên. Trình bày với nhà đầu tư / studio để gọi vốn. 2-6 tháng chuẩn bị dồn dập. Casting: cùng Casting Director audition diễn viên, tập diễn cặp, mời thử lại. Tuyển trưởng bộ phận: DP, Production Designer, Costume, Editor — chọn người hợp tầm nhìn. 3. Quay phim — chỉ đạo trên trường quay
Giai đoạn thấy rõ nhất — 4-16 tuần quay. Mỗi ngày: có mặt trường quay 5-6 giờ sáng, rà soát lịch, chỉ đạo diễn viên (diễn xuất, blocking), làm việc cùng DP (máy quay, ánh sáng), xem playback monitor, đưa ghi chú.
